DR. ART AZURDIA

Dr. Azurdia serves as Associate Professor of Pastoral and Church Ministry, and Program Director of the Doctor of Ministry program for Western Seminary. He is also a founding elder of Trinity Church in Portland, Oregon, and the founder of the Spurgeon Fellowship. Dr. Azurdia is an M.A. graduate of Simpson College, earned the Master of Divinity from American Baptist Seminary of the West, and the Doctor of Ministry from Westminster Theological Seminary. He is the author of Spirit Empowered Preaching and the newly published Spirit Empowered Mission: Aligning the Church's Mission with the Mission of Jesus.

DR. ROBERT SMITH

Robert Smith, Jr. holds the Charles T. Carter Baptist Chair of Divinity at Beeson Divinity School in Birmingham, Alabama, where he teaches Christian Preaching. Previously he served as the Carl E. Bates Associate Professor of Christian Preaching at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. An ordained Baptist minister, he served as pastor of the New Mission Missionary Baptist Church in Cincinnati, OH for twenty years. He is a contributing editor for a study of Christian ministry in the African American church, Preparing for Christian Ministry, and co-editor of A Mighty Long Journey.  He has written the book, Doctrine That Dances: Bringing Doctrinal Preaching and Teaching to Life (B&H Publishing Group, Nashville: 2008), which was selected as the winner of the 2008 Preaching Book of the Year Award by Preaching magazine and 2009 Preaching Book of the Year Award by Christianity Today’s preaching.com. He and his wife, Dr. Wanda Taylor-Smith, Ph.D., are the parents of four adult children (one in heaven).

DR. ZACK ESWINE

Dr. Zack Eswine is pastor of RIverside Church in Webster Groves, Missouri, where he lives with his wife, Jessica and three children.

Dr. Eswine was born and raised in Southern Indiana, in the towns of Henryville, Clarksville and Floyd’s Knobs. He graduated from Floyd Central High School in 1987, and later earned a B.S.W. from Ball State University, an M.Div. from Covenant Theological Seminary and a Ph.D. from Regent University.

DR. JIM SHADDIX


Dr. Jim Shaddix serves as Professor of Preaching at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC, occupying the W. A. Criswell Chair of Expository Preaching. He also serves as Coordinator of Southeastern’s EQUIP Network, which partners with churches and other ministry organizations to provide practical theological education through mentored internships and field-based instruction. Jim has pastored churches in Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana and Colorado, and also served as Dean of the Chapel and Professor of Preaching at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in New Orleans, LA. He is the author of The Passion Driven Sermon (Broadman & Holman, 2003) and co-author of Power in the Pulpit with Jerry Vines (Moody, 1999, 2017) and Progress in the Pulpit (Moody, 2017). Jim and his wife, Debra, focus much of their attention on discipling and mentoring young leaders and spouses. They have three grown children and four grandchildren.
